On Wednesday, March 08, 2017, numerous DPS employees gave back to the community by coordinating a supply drive and volunteering at the local Military Assistance Mission (MAM) in Phoenix. The employees who participated in the effort are all enrolled in the sixth DPS Leaders in Training (LIT) class.

Employees can be seen here volunteering.

The LIT class was created to develop and promote servant leadership and followership within the Department. MAM provides support and financial assistance to current Arizona active military, their families, and wounded warriors regardless of overseas deployment status. The LIT class collected donated school supplies, toiletries and toys for all ages to assist the organization and the brave military members it serves.

On March 8, the members of the LIT class also assisted MAM at their warehouse in Phoenix with sorting, packaging, and organizing supplies donated by the public. During the experience LIT participants learned the value of giving back through acts of kindness and generosity to develop themselves as leaders. This project was instrumental in the growth of tomorrow’s leaders at DPS. MAM’s next function is the “Tour of Duty Ride” on May 27, 2017, to honor and support Arizona’s Military.
