WASHINGTON — The nomination period is now open for the highest national award honoring first responders.
Nominations for the Medal of Valor have been opened by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance today and will remain open until July 31 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
The award is given to firefighters, EMS providers and law enforcement officers who went beyond the call of duty to protect the lives of others through exceptional acts of courage.
Nominees can be submitted by the head of the agency of which they are a member. Click here to learn more about the requirements and to submit a nomination.
