PHOENIX — An Arizona officer was praised after carrying a disabled woman who was on her way to work.
KTAR reports that on Feb. 24, Mesa Officer Brandon Lavin was working a marathon route when he noticed Tavia Warner struggling to walk. Warner, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, was forced to walk a mile to work due to the road closures for the marathon.
Warner said she kept falling. That’s when Lavin “threw me over his shoulder and walked me to work.”
Det. Steve Berry said the department found out about the story when Warner left a voicemail trying to find the name of the officer who helped her. The two met up on Tuesday at the PD during the official acknowledgement of Lavin’s good deed.
“This is a great example of an officer doing what is necessary to solve a problem for a community member,” Berry said.
